FLL

Overview

Attending an event is the culmination of a lot of hard work for FLL and Jr.FLL teams.  Events are colorful, bursting with energy and excitement, and loaded with enthusiasm.  Teams get to interact and share experiences and ideas.  Coaches, parents, and kids alike all beam with pride.  Everyone is recognized for amazing achievements, and it’s simply a fun experience!

FLL Events

FLL Events are sporting events for the mind.  They have distinguished guests, parents, and coaches; intense and playful students; judges reviewing team project presentations and real referees in black and white striped shirts scoring the robot rounds.  There are Opening and Closing ceremonies, really cool trophies, and team T-shirts with personalized logos and team colors.  There is cheering, hi-fives, and squeals of celebration.

At an event teams…

  • Decorate their pit area (the team’s “home base” at an event)
  • Present their Project to a panel of judges
  • Demonstrate Teamwork, FLL Core Values, and Gracious Professionalism
  • Perform 2.5 minute robot rounds
  • Participate in technical interviews about robot design
Distinguished individuals offer their time as referees and judges. These volunteers witness the teams' talents while assessing the young scholars' facts and conclusions about the Challenge.

Jr.FLL Events

No two Jr.FLL events are the same because they are run by you, the community! Empowering you to host an event grants flexibility in planning and the ability to truly make it unique.  Jr.FLL provide a dynamic opportunity to showcase teams’ creative imaginations.  Teams receive recognition for their hard work in an atmosphere that combines a science fair with hi-fives and awards.

At an event teams may…

  • Display their Show-Me Poster and Model at their event
  • Present their projects to Reviewers
  • Demonstrate teamwork, Jr.FLL Core Values, and Gracious   Professionalism
  • Learn from interaction with other teams
  • Participate in awards ceremonies during the event

Junior FIRST LEGO League events are run by coaches and volunteers; so look to your community to help you run Jr.FLL events. Once registered, check out the Event Guide for advice.

Teams must apply, and participation fees may vary for FLL and Jr.FLL events. Participation is based on site capacity and is not guaranteed. Use the Find Events search to view a listing of confirmed FLL Championship tournaments. New events are being added every day. If you don’t see an event in your area or need more information, check the list again or ask your Regional Contact.

Events are free and open to the public. Specatators are always welcome and volunteers are always appreciated. Get involved as a volunteer.

Please refer to the "Restrictions on the Posting of Pictures" before publishing any pictures from FLL or Jr.FLL events.
