Safety

FIRST considers Safety to be a key component of the FIRST Robotics Competition. All teams are asked to have a Safety Captain as part of their team structure. The Safety Captain may be identified via a badge, provided by FIRST at the Regional Competitions and at Championship.

Team Safety is evaluated at each event by FIRST Safety Advisors.  Points are given for safe behaviors and practices. At the conclusion of each event, a Safety Award is given to the team who best exemplifies FIRST safety practices. To help teams understand the FIRST Safety Program, the FIRST Safety Manual provides information on the FIRST Safety Awareness and Recognition Program.

  

Safety Animation

Every year, FIRST and UL (Underwriter's Laboratories) invite teams to submit a short animated film to promote team safety.  The winning entry, chosen by UL, is aired during the live Kickoff broadcast and re-played at FRC regional events.  Details and deadlines are available below.

FMA (The Fabricators & Manufacturers Association) is once again offering FRC teams the opportunity to earn a safety certificate and win prizes.

Watch the 2010 Safety Video featuring race car driver Brennan Palmiter, review the Safety Manual and take their quiz and you'll be all set to practice safe robot building and repair this season.
